I should totally be doing dishes, so I'm watching Burn Notice. You know how it goes.
* Geez, Fiona is looking good again this season - she looked lovely in Season 1, and then she got thinner and thinner and less and less attractive. She looks great now, though; whatever she changed is really working for her.
* Yay Jesse! I'm glad they didn't ditch him.
* I like the fact that the team is taking jobs independently of Michael - it seems like a smart way to keep the dynamic of the show approximately the same without stretching credibility too far.
* I like the way they do things differently without Michael around. It's a good illustration of the way they all have different styles.
* Ooh. I love Maddie's new hairstyle.
* I am... not sure how I feel about Maddie getting involved in the Con Of The Week. On the other hand, holy shit she is awesome, and I love the tangle of Michael channelling his father.
* Still don't trust Max. Reeeeally don't trust Max. I'm sure there's a bug in the CD case or something.
* I'm still unsure about this season. I realise they're shaking things up, and Michael couldn't continue to do the Try To Get His Old Job Back dance forever, but it kind of feels like they haven't settled on a new tone and style in place of the old one; it still feels like the show is kind of feeling its way. We'll see. I just rewatched seasons 1 to 3 (okay, I was meant to be clipping them for vidding, but I got... distracted) and am freshly full of love for the show so it's not like I'm not going to give it a chance.
* It's just hard to make happiness funny, you know? A lot of the comedy came from the frictions of Michael's life; the bickering between Fi and Sam, the relationship with his mother, the stresses of trying to juggle his competing obligations. Now the friction is gone, and it feels kind of like the televisual equivalent of curtainfic. I like the fact that his relationships are happy again, but he needs some kind of stress, and work stress would fit the bill.
* However, I think this season's episode names might be telling. Last episode was Company Man; this was Bloodlines. Next episode is Mind Games, the one after is No Good Deed, then comes Square One, and Enemy of My Enemy. That sounds promising.
I never thought I'd be hoping for Michael Westen's life to suck again.
