* My tag bundles are gone. All of them.
* I hate the new layout. Less data and more whitespace is good for reading; it's not useful for a complex environment where more data is better.
* My tag list has maybe 40 or 50 tags on it, out of my HUNDREDS of tags. Nowhere can I find a list of "all tags you have used".

And you can't even rename or delete tags. Way to improve functionality there guys, nice work.

Fucking hell, AVOS - it wasn't broke, so why did you 'fix' it?
eleanorjane: Sophie Deveraux looking worried. (damn)
So, I just got this in my email.

Dear Delicious User,
Yahoo! is excited to announce that Delicious has been acquired by the founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen. As creators of the largest online video platform, Hurley and Chen have firsthand expertise enabling millions of consumers to share their experiences with the world. Delicious will become part of their new Internet company, AVOS.

To continue using Delicious, you must agree to let Yahoo! transfer your bookmarks to AVOS. After a transition period and after your bookmarks are transferred, you will be subject to the AVOS terms of service and privacy policy.

Reasons to let Yahoo! transfer your bookmarks
• Continue uninterrupted use of Delicious.
• Keep your Delicious account and all your bookmarks.
• Enjoy the same look and feel of Delicious today plus future product innovations.

What happens if you do not transfer your bookmarks
• Delicious in its current form will be available until approximately July 2011.
• After that, you will no longer be able to use your existing Delicious account and will not have
access to your existing bookmarks or account information.

About AVOS
AVOS is a new Internet company founded by Chad Hurley and Steve Chen who, in 2005, founded YouTube, the world's largest online video platform. Before YouTube, Hurley and Chen were early employees at PayPal, a leading online payment service that is now part of eBay. Delicious will become a part of AVOS, based in San Mateo, California.

Thank you for using Delicious. Yahoo! has appreciated having you with us, and we are pleased to be able to transfer Delicious to an incredible new owner -- you're in good hands.
The Yahoo! Delicious Team

I am torn. On the one hand, yay, Delicious continueth. On the other hand, I know nothing of AVOS, and don't know whether to trust them or not. On the third hand, nobody has more of a rep for screwing up their acquisitions than Yahoo, so if Yahoo didn't ruin Delicious hopefully nobody will. And the comments on the deliciously_mad discussion post indicate that "pornographic" content is against the TOS, which might make it freakin' useless for fandom content.

Argh. What I really want, I think, is the fannish Delicious equivalent that was being bruited around on [livejournal.com profile] deliciouslymad when Yahoo tried to shut Delicious down late last year. It seems nothing has eventuated, though.

Good news?

Somebody at Delicious claims they're not closing down despite all the evidence to the contrary (including internal Yahoo presentations and the fact that almost all the Delicious team was laid off a few days ago).

We shall see!

Augh. BRB, exporting all my bookmarks. Now to find somewhere to import them to. What I really want is somewhere with tag bundling, which sadly rules Pinboard out. Hm.

(This is why Yahoo shouldn't be allowed to buy things. They only break them. See Geocities, Webring, and now Delicious. Feeling a bit nervous about my Flickr account now...)

Edit: For now, I have an archival account at Pinboard, but I'll be eagerly watching the progress of a fandom-equivalent project being discussed at [livejournal.com profile] deliciouslymad.

Edit 2 Electric Boogaloo: The mods of the Merlin kink meme on LJ are holding a open fannish discussion about alternatives to delicious; the discussion's open to any who uses delicious fannishly, including anonymods. Looks interesting and useful.

You know, when people post Five Things fic that happens to be full of crossovers, my delicious tags get a bit out of hand.

Current record: 17 tags for People Who Repair Quantums, or Five Planets the Enterprise Never Visited (and that's not including [omc] for the redshirt...)

Lucky it's a good story, really. ;-)
