I have just been curled up with Under Heaven, the latest book from my much-loved Favouritest Author Ever (that would be Guy Gavriel Kay), and I'm happy as a clam. I don't know what it is about his writing, but I can only ever stand to read a few chapters at a time because it's so... intense, I suppose. His style isn't overwrought or purple, but he's a master of eliciting emotions, and his books are never easy reads, emotionally speaking.
Mm. So good.

Date: 2010-05-14 07:11 am (UTC)I was skimming my reading page and saw the phrase "much-loved Favourite Author Ever" and got a pre-emptive cringe of "oh god, another one slamming fanfic?" and it wasn't til I read your post properly that I realised, no, GGK hasn't been saying how fanfic authors kill kittens or whatevs. Phew. So, I'm glad you are having good reading and that at least someone's favourite author isn't failing hard today!
