I am really in the mood for fic with a good original character (or more!), preferably starring them or at the very least featuring them in strong secondary role(s). MCU is my current fandom of choice, but I'm panfannish at heart.

Any recs? :)

Not MCU, but an excellent post-series fic for Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series: No Second Coming introduces a romantic interest for Simon Drew. Elaine's role is more or less an equal addition to the ensemble rather than a star turn in terms of stage time, but the relationship and Elaine's actions are the keystone of the plot.

And then there's The Trouble With Harry; this is a Doctor Who/NCIS crossover in which an entirely appealing OC has the lead role on one side of a double-threaded plot. (While it's also part of a longer series, familiarity with the prior fics is emphatically not required; as it happens, this story was my entry point to that series.)

Have you read The Personal (Assistant) Is Political? It's told from the POV of Steve's new PA who tries to help him navigate 21st media. I love it.
