So I was chatting with my mother today and mentioned that Janet Evanovich (whose stuff we both read and buy) has a new series out... but it's in collaboration with Lee Goldberg, so I refuse to buy it. I explained how Goldberg has regularly been not just an asshat but a rude asshat about fanfiction, despite the fact that his work as a writer of licensed tie-ins is basically just authorised fanfiction for money, and Mum immediately said "Well then, I'm not going to buy it either."
Then Dad told me about a "Winnie the Pooh at Age Sixty" thing he'd read, by Alan Coren, and pointed out how that's just like fanfic too, really.
My parents are awesome, you guys. :)
