3W4DW Meme: Day Two

2. Why did you choose your journal name?

My main LJ, which is a hodgepodge of fannish-and-not, and is read by fans and assertive not-fans, is [livejournal.com profile] ladyjestyr, which was the kind of name that seems cool when you're 19.

I'd been wanting to decouple myself from that name for a while, and my online pursuits tended to fall into three categories:

* gaming-related, where I use the name Siha, and have for many years
* professional and semi-professional, where I tend to just use 'Eleanor', although that's long-since snapped up on most online services (but I got [twitter.com profile] eleanor, hah)
* and fannish stuff, where I eventually settled on eleanorjane, since that's, you know, my name. (Well, first name and one of my two middle names.) (My father calls me "Ellie Jane". Confusingly, there is an elliejane in fandom as well. I get that pavlovian twitch every time someone refers to her.)

I'd already set up, a couple of years ago, a fannish LJ under this name - but I rarely used it, so when I set up shop on DW, I'd already decided to revive my eleanorjaneishness, and I repurposed my eleanorjane LJ to be a crossposting repository for this DW, so I had an identity with which to interact with LJ-based fandom.

(Other things people call me: Elle, Sail [related to my MMO guild], Bumpy [a nickname that won't die, derived from sex-related injury. sigh], Pip, Ellebelle, Elliebear. I variously answer to all of them except Bumpy. :))
